Find

The small things can make the biggest difference. Refreshing your everyday with little luxuries can make all the difference. These sweet glasses from Urban Outfitters(whaaa?) are on my wishlist.

Carrie is killing it

SJP in Johanna Ortiz. Honestly, I really do not know how to use words anymore. I only speak in emojis.  This would be a  two hands emoji

Oak City Interiors

After taking some time off for the past couple years 2016 was a good year for me. I decided it was time to do my thing.  I started my own design firm, Oak City Interiors.  While the learning curve was steep, it was worth every second. I could not be more excited for 2017 and everything it has to offer.

I cannot wait to show you some projects from 2016 (if I ever get them photographed). I also plan on offering a shopping section once I get a website to show current inventory at my office. I am trying to focus on one of kind pieces and a few classic stock items that you do not see everywhere.

I am going to try my best to update the blog, but I do not have a great track record.  I am having a really hard time finding anything on the Internet worth sharing these days. In the meantime, you can follow along on Insta @oakcityinteriors.

I see you Zara Home...

While it feels wrong comparing Zara to Richard Ginori,

I am going to go ahead and do it.  It was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw these botanical dinner plates from Zara Home.  It is as close as I will ever get and you can put it in the dishwasher or microwave. You can drop it and not shed a tear. It also cost $7.90, which would be reasonable for an even an unattractive plate. You have about a 20 minute window before they sell out. Best wishes!

London kitchen inspiration

I am on a huge English country kick and Marisa Hermer's kitchen is really doing it for me these days. The perfect amount of English charm without the twang.

Less is more, in this case.

I have been working on a project all afternoon and I need to get something off my chest.

I do not like tile. Can we stop using it? It is expensive and cold. Too shiny.  I can tolerate something small on the bathroom floor because I am practical. Other than that, I just do not see the point. Oh, and showers of course. Speaking of showers, I miss shower curtains. Mainly because they hide tile.
2017, let's make a pact. Less tile, more this (see below)

Hey girl hey!

Nothing like Charlotte Smith to make your Monday a little brighter.

My super stylish and witty friend was featured on The Real Raleigh last week. Charlotte's house is a  treasure chest. Every piece comes with a story.  Her effortless style is truly authentic, just like her.

She recently opened up a store in Raleigh, Union Camp Collective. While Charlotte's style is impossible to replicate, she has something for everyone!

BEFORE AND AFTER: White Painted Brick and My Favorite Exterior Colors

We moved back in July and since that time we have not made a lot of changes to our new house. I stalked this house for a year and half before we ended up going under contract. I knew that the first thing I wanted to do was paint it white.

In my defense, I do love brick. Just very specific types of brick. Usually located in historic neighborhoods I cannot afford. This is the second house we painted and I do not regret it for a second.

We painted our brick and siding Benjamin Moore 'White Dove'.
